Take the Lid Off!

As I was listening to a sermon the other day, I kept seeing in my mind’s eye all these Wells with a Lid on them! The title of the sermon was, What are you Getting out of your Well?

I wanted to yell out, “TAKE THE LID OFF!”

But then I realized that many didn’t just have a lid on them; some had Boulders and Stones heaped on top of the lid, holding it down, for Containment. 

Many of us have been living with a covered-up Well to protect what we cherish so much, not realizing that our Well has become Stagnate and Stale, from lack of Flowing Freely.

The Boulders and Stones represent the last vestiges of Sin and Shame, still contained within us that we refuse to look at.  Rather than go through the pain or shame of healing those wounds, we’ve Kept a Lid on it to keep our egos safe.

Sometimes, along our Sojourn through life, we get to a point where we don’t want to unload certain burdens that are hard to look at; the secret sin and shame that keep our lives shielded from exposure so we can project a facade of false humility.  Sometimes it’s not even our own Sin and Shame holding down the Lid to our Well!

For Such a Time as This, we need to TAKE THE LID OFF!

Let the Living Waters bubble to the Surface and Flow Freely, out from our lives in order to walk in Obedience to the Lord’s Purpose for each of us.

We must REMOVE the Sin Stones of Unhealed Shame!

They are holding us back and keeping a Lid on our Spiritual growth.  Many of us let Pride keep us from looking deep within because what we see reflected back, looks nothing like what we want the world to see.  We avoid those Sin Stones and leave them be as we continue living, unquenched by the Living Water just beneath the surface.

Our inner lives become poisoned by the Stagnate water we carry around, held back with the hidden parts of ourselves.

All we need to do is DECIDE!

Decide to Throw those Stones aside and leave them at the Cross of Christ in full Surrender to the Lord, on our Knees.  We have to SEE them to pick them up and some are heavy with a lifetime of containment. But, no matter what, we must quench our thirst, and the only way is to expose the contents to the Light and Source of our Living Water…

Jesus meets us on our knees and as we rise, so does the Living Water in our Well, as it Freely Flows...

We become One with the Source of Living Water, as an endless supply of God’s Love flows freely from our lives when we Determine to TAKE THE LID OFF! and live Free from the cares of this world.
